In our busy, complicated modern world, difficult situations and conditions are almost impossible to avoid. What is our response to these problems we see all around us? Discouragement, helplessness, fear, grief, rage…?
In his teachings on training the mind, Buddha explained many methods for transforming challenging conditions into causes of spiritual growth and development.
Using the inspiring book, The New 8 Steps to Happiness, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Gen Namdrol will explain and guide meditations on the practice known as “transforming adverse conditions into the path.”
Through this training, rather than feeling discouraged by all the problems and pain we see around us, and experience within us, we discover a capacity to use these difficulties to empower our minds. The result is that instead of feeling stuck and helpless, we gain an inner ability to transform adversity into powerful, positive states of mind, such as love, compassion, and joy. This power enables us to not only grow spiritually but also to become a positive influence in our workplaces, families, communities….the world.
