Buddha taught how all our problems and unhappiness are rooted in negative states of mind such as anger, attachment, and confusion. Unless we learn practical methods to let go of these negative minds, it will be impossible for us to experience real freedom and happiness. We will find that we are unable to maintain a calm, positive mind when things go wrong in our lives.
By seeking refuge in the Three Jewels – Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, we can overcome our negative states of mind, and find mental stability and permanent freedom from our problems. Buddha is likened to a Spiritual doctor, Dharma to inner medicine that gives peace of mind, and, Sangha to the Spiritual nurses who encourage us in our practice and show a good example for us to follow.
Relying upon Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha to find freedom from suffering, lasting happiness, and to benefit others is the very essence of the Buddhist way of life.
After the day course, there will be an opportunity to engage in a Refuge Vow Ceremony. Everyone is welcome! No experience is needed.
